Title: DC 44

New member!
In order to repair my DC 44, I have replaced the 3 mains items - in the following order
Battery Power Unit, Main Body Unit, Mains Battery Charger.
Unfortunately all to no avail - can anyone please advise what the problem could be

Does it run at all?

Are these new items you replaced them with?

No unit will not run and all replacement parts are new and are Dyson parts.

Replaced Battery Unit first - no change
Replaced Main Body unit - no change
Finally replaced mains charger to ensure batteries were charged - no change.
Effectively this is a new unit?
I am completely lost to why this so are there any tests I can do to prove units.

Isn't this the one (dc44) which develops a short circuit in the main hand unit ?
It then kills the fuse in the battery, so if you try a new battery you will find all is well.

I had one, thought it was a battery fault so tried a new one and it still didn't work - i then tried my new battery in a known working hand unit and it was confirmed.

Thanks for that - I did try a new battery unit I the old body - possible blown fuse in the new unit? unlucky
How can I prove both battery units are faulty

If i am thinking on the right lines ? you have been caught out with a faulty hand unit and blown the fuse in the new battery

then trying the new battery on a new unit.
I think the only way to prove is to find a known working dc44 body and try your new battery on that.
I have been down this route with a few new batteries being tested on an old faulty hand unit and i thought what is going on here ?
My guess is that if you try another new battery on the new hand unit - you will find it works.
Stuart or David need to add their views on this imo.
This is the reason i refuse to touch cordless models now, apart from basic service on working units.
And i don't think the old hand units can be stripped or repaired without it looking like it has been chewed by a pack of wild dogs.

Yes, as noted above, in rare cases a fault in the motor body can take out a new battery. So you then add a new motor body and it wont work.

You probably need another battery. If you got them from Dyson, just tell them its failed and they should replace it.
