Title: "I've stopped developing corded vacuums" ... running total
Post by: nzvacs on May 11, 2018, 07:44:14 am
Running count of all the new corded Dyson's that have come out following James Dyson triumphantly announcing that he "stopped developing them"

I'll start...

UK Dyson Ball Animal 2

Dyson V4 Digital (Japan exclusive)
First time I've seen a canister Dyson come with a docking station

I like the elbow joint on the wands. V4 digital looks good.

Development takes time, and these machines were launched quite swiftly after that claim, so these vacuums were in development before the V10 was launched and for that claim to be made about the discontinuation of the development of corded vacuums

I think it's a mistake but with people careing less about performance but more about being lazy he'll be a multi billionaire before long.

I'd not seen that V4, I've just bunged it on the index.

From the Taiwan site, NT is New Taiwanese Dollars, 33500 of the buggers is 830 squids.

https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=33500&From=TWD&To=GBP

It's a status thing in those countries. The G Force cost more in Japan in 1991. That was twice that back then.

Well, given that his yacht cost US$70 million, and the Gulfstream G650 was US$65 million, then he's got to sell quite a lot of V4's to keep those running...
When the DC01 was first marketed, everyone told him it was far too expensive to sell in any numbers. Clearly, they were wrong.
I believe he is already a multi-billionaire Rusty, net worth around US$6 billion. The nice thing about having no shareholders to worry about is that you can pay yourself whatever dividend you like (£111 million last year I think).

Wow, V4 looks really good! Why do Japanese get cool stuff?! Why didn't they release it in UK?
Do you guys think that it has a lower power/worse performance?

Dyson are pricing themselves out of Europe in many ways. Much of it now seems to be “think of a price and double it”.

Hairdryers, heaters, fans, the V11, all seem to be priced at twice what they’re worth.

What became of the 360 Eye? We sent ours back. I think it flopped....

Asia is their market now, not us.

Well, no surprise. Looks like whole UK is amazed with Sharks, corded and cordless. Everybody's saying how great they are. And you can see on Facebook that people only complain on Dyson and say that Shark is so much better

We saw the writing on the wall several years ago. Being unimpressed with the quality of modern Dysons, and Dyson's reluctance to cooperate with us is why we ended up moving into Sebo as well.

As for the excitement about Shark, everything works alright for the first month or two. Poor engineering, build quality and parts supply is why we wont stock those. Not to mention the fact they are damn ugly! They market them well though.
