Hi all! just joined and wanted to ask a question. I just received my first Dyson yesterday. It's the Dyson dc 39 animal canister. I put it together as was instructed, started it up and everything worked fine. Started to vacuum the tile floor in my kitchen and pushed the button on the handle and the brush bar stopped, as it was supposed to. Then I wanted to vacuum my carpet again and pushed the button at the handle, as I did to turn the brush bar off, and The brush bar would not come back on. I tried and tried, Nothing! I kept trying and it tried to come back on and finally it did, but again when I turned the brush bar off, as your suppose to to vacuum bare floors, and then tried to turn the brush bar on again, I had the same problem. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Would appreciate any help! Thanks!

If it's like the earlier models, the brush bar will only spin when the cleaner is reclined. When upright the suction is automatically diverted to the hose.
Did you try switching it on and then checking with it reclined?

This is a cylinder machine MacMan.

Try pushing the button a few times. It will come right. My own did this when new but a few times it worked like a dream now. I really like the trigger head It worked really well on carpets, Better than most competitors upright vacuums
