Title: Dc07 cleaner head worn?
Post by: Fraz101 on December 24, 2019, 06:14:15 PM
My brush bar is rattling when using my dc07, I removed the bar and belt and ran the machine which works perfectly with no abnormal noises.

I have replaced the brush bar but the noise remains.

I have noticed when using the machine when I drag it back the cleaner head jumps up and down, I also notice the cleaner head assembly is very loose at one side, there seems to be a lot of free play at one side of the brush bar, which can easily be pulled in and out of where it attaches.

Are the cleaner head assemblies bad for wearing where they attach?

Only had one machine in (a dc 14 ) that had this problem

the profile cut out on the larger upper assembly is worn, you will find that it almost doesn't grip the lower beater housing.
Only way is to replace the upper assembly if we are on the same lines...
Knackered bearings or the beater bar can cause it too, but you say you have replaced it, so not that and i assume it is a non clutched machine...

Whenever i get one of this type of machine i always put a thin smear of silicone grease on that movement point.

Yes non clutch model

And yes on the sane page, I assumed it was the cut out profile that is worn, causing the brush bar to have too much free play.

I have a spare cleaner head assembly I can swap it over for.

Thanks

aye - pop a small amount of lubrication on that area as well as the mounting points either side of the motor housing.
Also had the black sleeve clips wear in the above area that can cause rattles on the vacs reverse action.

Sourced a new cleaner head today.

All is good now.

Also put in a new set of roller bearings.

Thanks for all replies.

Ps where do all these people who sell refurbished Dyson source them from?
