Title: DC 23 Maintenance manual
Post by: DaveH on June 07, 2012, 12:44:46 pm
Hi    Does anyone have access to a DC23 maintenance manual.  I especially need the UK wiring colours and connections between the cord coil, the switch and the motor itself.   Thanks

In the UK, the brown is live and the neutral is blue.

There is no publicly released workshop manual for the DC23, but if you have questions, we will do our best to help.

The only DC23 workshop manual that exists is Dyson's own internal one for their engineers. Nobody who has access to it will release a copy because Dyson do not want them circulated and would likely come down hard on anyone who did so.

The DC23 is not such a straightforward machine to work on as earlier cylinders though.

Is there any other specific information you need?

Hello Angus,

Thanks.   I just needed a wiring diagram for the internal connections from the cord coil, through the switch and the new motor and back to the cord coil.   The spade connectors and wiring colours on the old motor didn't bear any resemblance to the new one.  I don't think that the old internal wiring colours (red and black) followed the normal protocols of red = live and black = neutral.  For example the wires into and out of the switch were black !   Anyway having sent photos and having spoken to Claire and David at Manchester Vacs, I have fitted the new motor and re-connected and reassembled the vac and it's working fine (according to wife !).      Thanks to all concerned.
