Title: My DC04 I rescued from being binned
Post by: Kerry78 on March 04, 2016, 06:58:17 AM
So the story was I got this Silver / Lime DC04 free as the owner had turfed it out due it not collecting of her carpets she also said it was crap so I took it intending to do a trade in on a new DC39

Anyway got it home spent a hour or so cleaning it as it was filthy the canister was full of dust hair and rubbish removed the HEPA filter and it fell apart so added a new one to the buy it now list, the motor one was black but I decided to wash it and see how it turned out which looked fine, onto the brush area that was full of hair so bad infact I found the belt snapped when I took the fascia off 😄 just waiting for this band to arrive
And attempt to fix that, the vac is in very good condition big difference from when I got it .... Just need the canister tools and the tool that snaps on the back of the hose bit!

If I can get it run how I like I may keep it till I've saved up more pennies to buy a new Dyson 😎

Very tidy! Lots of cheap toolsets on ebay, plenty of genuine sets too but they cost more

I have one in the shed. Doesn't look as nice as yours though! It's also quite broken and about to be bodged up with DC07 parts!

Beko1987. It took a whole afternoon to get it looking tidy
It was disgusting must of used half a bottle of domestos on it 😂
Used a plumbers rubber to get the black marks of and it looks good
There is a few scuff marks on the side of the head but if that was replaced
It would look as good as new 😁

I will have a nose on ebay when I get the band and hepa filter I was hoping
Theyd arrive today sadly not I think our local postie only delivers when he feels like it  :))

@parwaz. I'm not entirely sure how old mine is but I read via google its a 2003 vac
I suppose I could message Dyson on facebook if there not to fed up of ne yet lol and ask them 😉

DC04 Lime was not fitted with a HEPA filter just a white fibre pad.

I'll keep an eye here to see ;)

DC04 Lime was not fitted with a HEPA filter just a white fibre pad.

I did think that, but I wasn't sure so didn't say anything. I don't remember a HEPA in the DC04 I had, well I can't even remember if I had an 04 to tell you the truth  :-X

The original  filter I took out was much like these but had Dyson all over it and was blue : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Motor-Filter-Dyson-Vacuum-Cleaners/dp/B003XN6HU8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1457138365&sr=8-4&keywords=dyson+filter+hepa+dc04

im unsure which one is the true or not HEPA I assumed the canister one was the culprit the motor one is a thin pad filter lol  :))

The one on the left with the blue sponge is the pre motor filter, it goes at the top of the cyclone unit,  the one on the right is the hepa and goes ontop of the motor outlet where the white pad is on none hepa filters.

Even with the motor one washed and looking better there's a better suction on the hose now, still awaiting on the pre-motor filter I bought it first and still hasn't arrived, the belt however arrived today and I put it on what a bitch job that was broke a nail on the process 👎 oh well the brush is spinning round lovely and fast now 😁

Bloody filter better arrive next week  :evilgrin0002:lol

Haha I shouldn't but I've come 99% with it now its not perfect till
The new filter turns up ...minus the missing tools  :))

I don't think it will have a good suction on it compared to my Kärcher WD2.20
We will see, that Kärcher is a good vac but the cable flex keeps getting tangled up
And then it falls over alot as I've got alot of hard flooring already busted the tank and Kärcher sent me 2 free clips out of warranty for it which was good of them..

The tank is £25-£35 I don't wanna spend that on it though 👎 I want about that for it if I flog it 😂
