Title: DC41: Bin Find
Post by: Dyson2000 on March 16, 2016, 09:13:56 pm
Its been awhile since I've posted anything lately, anyway, well i found this on last Saturday and i thought well its probably  big time that's why its in there, anyway i took it and of course yes I did ask for it, to give me something to do. when i got home i stuck it in the shed and deal with it the next day.

So the next day had begun. it was 11:00am and i thought lets get cracking. Now I've seen it in the day light its worse state than i thought. so before i powered it up i thought i would strip it right down and clean it and check it along the way. everything seemed fine until i got to the PCB.

Whoah!

[attachimg=1]

That probably wont be the worse so lets clean it and check it, everything's good!, on to the motor, i didn't take a picture but i wish i had, i couldn't see the metal casings on the motor, so i got the air compressor going and gave it a right good blast out, ah that's better, i gave the casings it was well and its a lot cleaner, time to put it back together.

Power up time, Um a bit loud but it works i suppose. Its a bit like Sam's needs a motor i think, i wonder where im gonna get one of those. it needs a hose and the release clip for the cyclone.

[attachimg=5]

Not too bad i rekon for absolutely nothing apart from a thank you from the dump guy. What do we all think?

Wish I found a modern Dyson, like your DC41! I would be lucky to even find a vax on the road, people take everything!!! Even an ironing board

We put our washing machine outside to throw it out, it went within..... um 1 hour I think :o  Nobody even knocked on our door either

Yep! It wasn't an issue when I was a kid, cos I saw a green Dc07 once, a Dc04 lime, a DC04 lime from my Auntie's neighbour's house and 2X DC01's before DC04's were everywhere, ah I miss those days!

Nothing like finding something useful! I found 2 large fridges outside a pub today, the ones with the glass doors to put WKD and other drinks in behind the bar. Lovely! ;)

That's a good find I will have to keep my eyes open 😉

@ Parwaz on useddudley type in Dyson and scroll down till you see the faulty canister one Its a DC19 anyway its £15 and all hose etc but the guy says it makes a noise

motors aren't to bad a price on eBay so there you go a modern newer one
If you want it 😃

Thanks Kerry ;D I see he has it on gumtree too, sadly I don't get on with cylinder vacuums unless it's a really fancy Dyson one or a Henry

Ahh right shame but tbh im not sure if it be a good investment DC19s don't seem to go for much but its a try at changing the motor shame its not a fiver 😂

Shame the DC04 only gets £1 attention 😁
I was hoping I could at least trade mine upto get a
DC24i next, would be a great runaround daily vac
With my Cockatiels dander and it's small so I wouldn't go
Walking into in the dark at night like I have been with the DC04

lmao 😆

Sorry I meant DC08 instead of DC07 lol

and I have a DC24i!!! It's blue ;D It's a good vacuum but for some reason the filter gets dirty quickly, I would say a DC25 is better for a house and DC24's are good for flats, upstairs vacuums, car vacuums or bedroom vacuums lol

Still a good vacuum but quite problematic, unless you inherit the guarantee

Sadly they discontinued them a few years ago, DC25 got discontinued last year after 7 years of production, but they sold well like hot cakes :)

You can trade in any Dyson dual cyclone vacuum to Dyson and you get a discount on a new ball (DC40 onwards sadly) and DC19 and DC28C

LOL
I dont mean to sound rude, but if I was to wake up in the middle of the night and go downstairs I would turn all the lights on :)) Why do people say that? haha

Parwaz my place is fairly small so the dc24 is good for that, it would be just to do a quick Cleanup everyday around the birds I have if I were to get one 😉

Lol I don't turn on the light for that same reason as madrat lmao!

I don't have any lights on, the Wife turns them all on, I turn them off.
She closes the blinds when it's still day light and turns them on, I turn them off and open them again.

She's completely nuts, I'm normal and sane.

I walk about at night in the dark, it makes me feel like I'm alone.

I will never understand people that shut blinds of curtains in the day and turn the lights on  :o

Post by: RustySkull on March 21, 2016, 11:46:25 am
Tell me about it, she goes all by time... everything she does is by time no matter what the actual reality is.
So this means, at 15:00 she closes all blinds, locks all the doors and turns the lights on regardless of the time of year.

where as I simply close the blinds when it's dark, and turn a light on when I go in a room, and turn it off when I leave that room.

Nahh lol

I live in a 1894 Victorian house and we have 2 living rooms and a front room, so 3 in total
The second room (first living room) has no windows leading outside so it's very insulated with heat especially as we live in a terraced house :)
So the room gets hardly any sunlight so we have a large flourescent bulb like a kitchen type and 3 bulbs in the ceiling fan

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one Madrat ;D

Basically when I described one of our living rooms, Rusty got the impression that it would be a similar atmosphere to an egg incubator for eggs to hatch :))

Had to read the convo again to see what he meant haha

Bloody hell...

You said you had a big light in the kitchen, So I said don't buy any eggs they'll hatch. (You have to know about incubation to understand I suppose?)

And as for the phrase "The penny's dropped" it means, do you get it now? Lol.

Hi, How did you get to the PCB board? I'm trying to get to the wire loom to see if that is the reason why the brushroll motor keeps cutting out. Please help!
 Thanks!

Hi, I will reply later with some photos to try and help you working atm. need a computer to upload the photos. Have you tried reseting the head before striping it down and also the brush bar switch to turn it ON/OFF? see if it's sticking.
Title: Re: DC41: Bin Find
Post by: Dyson2000 on April 08, 2016, 10:51:30 am
Here are the sloutions I think

Too much hair or other crap stuck in it (needs cleaning)
Too thick of a carpet
Sticky switch.
Faulty wire and connections on PCB
Motor
Connections on the motor
Being too rough with it. (Running over objects)
And the PCB it self.

Bit late to the party, but have you taken the motor an out and soaked/washed it? Looking at the crap covering the PCB I bet alot os stuck to the inside of the fan, that makes them sound loud

Yes, I was hoping it was just a problem with the switch, but unfortunately not. I'm thinking that wire is broken, but I don't know how to get to it. Thanks in advance for the help!
