Dyson model numbers have never been entirely logical; nor do they tend to run in sequence. We have a Dyson Model Number Index (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/dyson-model-numbers-index.html) you can peruse if you want to brush up.
Some Dysons were never released (or never properly released) though. The DC06 is such an example. The DC06 was actually built; it was a robotic vacuum cleaner. Apparently, it was briefly released but taken off the market due to its very high price tag (imagine that?). You can see a video of the DC06 in action here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ2M1Xsym-Y). Rumour has it there is the odd one around still. If you have one, and want to sell it, get in touch with us. :icon_nod:
The DC09 was never released at all. It was feared that this model name would cause confusion with the DC-9 aircraft. (What they really meant was they could not get high on Google with the term "DC09", and that's bad for marketing!)
The DC10, similarly, was never released. The DC-10 is also an aircraft. Too much potential confusion there they seem to have decided.
The DC13 was another model never made. The reason? Fear of bad luck it seems. :underchair:
Here is what Dyson UK said about the DC09, the DC10 and the DC13's that were never made:
We never made a DC09 or DC10 as the names are more commonly associated with aerospace manufacturer McDonnell Douglas (now part of The Boeing Company). And, just in case, we avoided DC13.

Wow, Dyson had a DC06 page in 2000

Brilliant!
Think how faded they would be now though, being made of DC02 plastic!

Yes, I never knew that either.

I wonder if their new robot will have a stair cleaning hose, it will be launched in America this year ;D

It has been out in Japan for months. People already have them on eBay, 220-240v, @ circa £800 with UK delivery.

Lol they always get all the Dysons first! :(
-
A stair cleaning hose? Brilliant but what if the robot decides to do one when your on the top step?
Do we reckon any DC06's were ever made? I know Dyson had everything destroyed, but surely they got to the stage where a few were made. Does Q have one?

They were made.
There were other videos, one of James Dyson explaining why they never went into full production that have since been pulled down.
Q hasn't got one I am aware of.

I've seen that video. Fair play to James, at least he knew it wouldn't work and stopped there. What tech would he have had then? It would have been a re-designed DC05 but heavier... Those tools look like DC05 with a stupid long hose
I'd love to be interested in the new Dyson robot, especially with the digital motors, but at that price, nah, I'll buy a broken one for £40 in 3 years on ebay...

I want one, but will need a UK warranty on it. I'll get one at trade when they go on offer 6 months after launch. I suspect I'll need the guarantee.
