Hi all,
I have a dc04 absolute and just fitted a new clutch
As the belts were wrecked, but ever since fitting the clutch it make a
Horrible sound when reclining the Hoover and the brush does not spin.
I've had it apart three times now and it's always exactly the same.
Any help would be good😉
Thanks

Is the brush located properly?
-
Hi yeah the brush is located properly, It sounds like something is stuck or catching but
Just can't work it out,
Do the new clutches need setting up?
Thanks
-
Is this a very loud ratcheting noise?
-
Yeah that's the exact noise really loud Even the dog whimpers off 😄
-
sounds as if the clutch has gone or if it is a new one the belt may be twisted
be carefull on the next advise try running the dyson on its side with the sole plate off does it make
the same noise then
-
I've now takeen the clutch cover off seems as
Though something is broken on it as it runs fine without it.
Is it ok just to leave it off or do I need to buy another one?
-
No it needs the clutch cover.
Sounds like the clutch wasn't located right and the belt snagged.
That loud noise is the clutches safety mechanism when something is jammed.
-
Each time I put the clutch corner back on It makes the noise,
There is part of the cover broke, is there a part of the
Cover that kind of tensions the belt at all?
-
No.
Is this a brand new clutch or a used one?
-
Brand new genuine dyson clutch
-
Brand new genuine dyson clutch
If you remove the brushbar does it spin freely if you turn it by hand?
If you pop the end caps off the brushbar, clean out any dust and lubricate then try again, do you still get the same ratcheting noise?
Might explain why the belt was wrecked on the old clutch...
