Title: My vacuum cleaner collection, both Modern and Vintage
Post by: Vacuum Cleaner House on July 28, 2016, 10:40:50 pm
So , I thought I would share my collection of vacuums, I must have close to 500 again, I had so many at one stage, I bought one of every model of vacuum on our market Tested it tried oit out and then boxed them up again but decided a while ago to sell them off, I now mostly have vintage vacuums and a few modern one's , Some of the more modern ones are models not available Locally so I bought them overseas to see how they worked.

My oldest vacuum is a Electrolux 1129 from 1929. I willpost a pic of it soon

First up My 1932 Tellus , aka Export name for Nilfisk,
Joanne found this machine for me in a small shop in a sleepy seaside  town called Fishhoek here in Cape Town. The tank section was badly rusted so We had it re chromed ( not cheap ) I do have those hoses for it aswell.

It had no wheels you The idea was you set it down in the middle of the room and cleaned around the room with it , then moved on to the next room.
It has a whopping 210watt motor so is well with in the EU energy consumption limits :'(. It has surprisingly good suction for its massive motor and is super quiet

This is a Columbus M III , this one is a 32 volt . It was sold in out lying areas for Farms were they did not have Electricity. The farms had Generators that ran the home which pumped out 32 volts. I have heard from other collectors of appliances that have 32 volt kitchen appliances and light bulbs. I have 3 32 volt machines. I got all of them from Joannes Aunt who lives in a small town 400 km outside of Cape Town in the northern cape called Calvinia. They were sold in the 40's and 50's

This one has a polisher head as well

My Constellation, 867.

Joanne found this one for me at a store called Just junk. A awesome place for a vacuum collector.

It needed a fair amount of work and a motor rebuild but it runs great now
