Title: WANTED: 1970s Hotpoint Liberator Washing Machine
Post by: supermaticjames on August 30, 2016, 01:07:43 pm
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a 1970s Hotpoint washing machine that was branded "Liberator" with funky purple controls and a purple door bowl. I'm happy to pay a reasonable price for one in any condition. GEC (the parent company of Hotpoint at the time) had a large presence in Manchester and often employees were offered Hotpoint appliances at a reduced price or as a Christmas bonus etc.

Here are some pictures of the machines I'm looking for although there are some variations that aren't accounted for such as the 1827 Best Buy washing machine which was the same as the 1828 (one dial, four buttons) but had a white door surround and a clear door bowl, I am desperate to find one of these as I have the matching dryer (second last picture in post).

I hope this request is not too much and wish me luck in finding one haha, I've not had much luck so far!

Kind regards,

James

P.S. I'm also on the look out for what is known as the Hotpoint Microtronic X2000 (last picture in post).

Wow my sister had one like that (2 button) in the mid 90s she got it reconditioned for about £80, cheapest one in shop, lasted about 18 month's.
