Title: DC08 rewind wiring
Post by: Sleaford White on February 27, 2014, 11:51:49 am
Just changing a cable rewind on an 08. The only replacement rewind I have has got a black and a white wire (fron rewind to switch/motor).
Can anyone tell me which is live and neutral?
Ta!

Use a multi meter to check from the live pin on the plug to each cable, if it  beeps or shows continuity that would be the live wire!

Is one lead longer than the other? The last 08 I did, although having brown and blue wires, the wire from rewind to switch was longer than the one from the rewind to the motor, as the rewind to motor cable joined halfway between.

To switch is live, to motor is neutral if that helps. You'll only get it the wrong way round once...

Nah, they were exactly the same length. You're right though, they usually are different lengths. About 10 minutes after my first post  remembered I bought a multi-meter a couple of months ago. How much of a prat did I feel after starting this thread???

Ah the wires being the same length doesnt help then!

Meh, you probably feel less of a prat than if you'd just given it a go and fried the motor! I really need to get a multimeter. Not had cause to need oen for a while, I just ask my Stepdad to run his across anything dead for me, or try a working cable and see what happens...
