Title: DC01 motor problems - advice needed please
Post by: Russell Hobbs on September 01, 2012, 10:35:08 am
Looking for a bit of advice regarding a problem I am having repairing a DC01.

Last week there was a lot of banging and clattering from the motor housing and a loss of suction.  I suspected a new motor of which I know are hard to source.  Having taken it to pieces i found the motor to be fine but the problem was at the end of the armature where there is a fan like plate structure which I assume creates the suction. The whole structure had disintegrated hence the banging noise.  I have no idea what it is called or even if it is available as a spare.

The irony is that the motor is fine and works well and assuming I can repair this, it will benefit from a new pair of brushes.  Those I know are easy to get hold of.

All help gratefully received.

Many thanks

Forgot to mention - the motor is an Armtek

You could use a burned out motor I suppose and make a good one from the two. No parts are available for those motors.

However, they are available good and used. I would just swap it for what its worth.

Thanks for that. I kinda suspected that might be the case.  I will keep searching.  Cheers

Used motors are occasionally offered on eBay for the DC01, it depends which model of motor. There is an Ametek on there at present.

Just found this post, I came across a DC01 last week with Ametek motor that had done the same thing, I've put it to one side to explore at a later date.
