Anything I could do to fix it? I've tried to unbend the rod to make it back to normal but I'm afraid of breaking it.
-
Which part are you referring to, look at the tech drawing on previous discussions re dc 14 :reading:
-
It's not clear whether you've recently bought it and it's arrived damaged?
If so, get in touch with whoever you purchased it from and ask them to send a replacement.
-
The only rods on a DC14 will be the wand or little metal rod inside the clutch cover won't it?
-
unless he means beater bar rod / shaft. i reckon it's the wand, courier probably threw it over the gate into the garden :'(
-
Ah yes, forgot about that!
-
The wheel axe. Is they any way I can unbend it without breaking it?
-
Of course, just vice it up and tap it straight again
-
They are very tough, if its still in the machine be careful as the plastic will give way before the rod will.
-
Why are couriers such slap heads for that they dont care about anyone's belongings? Same goes for airport luggage!! >:(
Anyway, the axle is the same as a DC07/33 etc if you have a spare?
The bent axle will be quite difficult to straighten perfectly, I'm not experienced in this as I've never really bothered to straighten any bent ones lol
-
it's only the minority of couriers, there was a talk in on R2 last week with jeremy vine about it. It was hilarious actually.
-
If I left it, would it be ok to use?
-
It still spins, but should I change it? If so, how do you do it? I do have Dyson knowledge but it isn't a lot.
-
prise cap of one of the wheels, remove c clip then remove wheel and washer - then pull rod out.
Sounds like vac has had a heavy drop on one or both wheels, if rod is really bad one end pull it out from that end then vice it to straighten.
TBH i would leave it be if the wheels are true and spin freely ( and there is no damage to the plastics ).

I bought a replacement wheel axel, took the old one off and fitted it and it is working properly. The wheel axe which has bent was also rusty at one side. The black washers which you fit on before putting on the glamour cap is a pain in the head. BTW the dc14 I had was a dc14 blitz it with a red cyclone and dark grey body.
