Title: Is V10 enough for small 2 bedroom house?
Post by: Halcyon on June 09, 2019, 09:08:07 pm
Hey,
Some of you may know that I own Ball Animal 2. I've recently purchased V8 from Dyson's outlet.
Both with my partner, we decided that it's better to sell Ball Animal 2 as it's not really suitable for our 3 storey house where literally there's one room on every floor. I know, why did we even buy it don't know  :dead-dyson:
Anyway, my partner thinks that it's better to return V8 and when we sell Ball Animal 2 get V10 and have it as our only vacuum.
I think that we would be better with V8 and some second hand cylinder Miele.
What's your opinion guys?
I'm just gonna add that we have 2 cats

I'd suggest a cordless is not enough on its own.

That's what I'm thinking.
I'm thinking about getting second hand Miele C2 Compact. Have any of you guys have it?
I've watched some vids and it basically says that it should have sealed system, that C1 doesn't have.
Anyway, Ball Animal 2 has just been sold  :dead-dyson:

In which ways was the Dyson ball not suitable for your 3 storey house?

It just seemed easier at first. You just vacuumed floors without a need of unclipping the wand. But then it became annoying .
I had to unclip the wand to vacuum sofa, chair and chair cushions as they're literally everyday full of cat hair. Hair everywhere even on windowsills. I was always trying to lean the cleaner against something but many times it just fell over. Then from the living room I had stairs to the bedroom upstairs, it was easy to do must say. But while using combination tool once in the bedroom the cleaner was falling over.
I have a black carpet downstairs in the hall and on the stairs. The ball cleaned it very efficiently but if hair was really close to the wall, front of the floor head didn't reach and I had to unclip the wand.
It was quite exhausting I must say carrying it up and down 3 levels where like I said I had to vacuum one room on each floor and 2 bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs..
When I was buying it, I wanted to get a cylinder but the Dyson lady who basically persuaded us into buying upright said that it would be much easier and cylinders are not very good.
Well, I'm probably gonna be wondering for a long time whether it was a right decision to sell it. I had a cylinder Miele before while I had Ball Animal 2 and Ball managed to pick plenty of dust straight after vacuuming with Miele that had 2200W. But now when we got V8 it should do the job that Ball was doing and vacuuming should be more pleasant.
Just gonna add that some time ago I persuaded my friend to buy Light Ball Multifoor as they live in a big Victorian house where's carpet everywhere. She's absolutely in love with it and says that it's much easier than with her old Vax. But the  ground floor in her house is probably bigger than three levels of my house combined.

I forgot to mention that attachments that come with the Ball are quite disappointing.
Tangle free turbine is not really great on my black carpet on the stairs or on the sofa. It leaves some hair behind and upholstery tool is even worse.
So I bought a connection to connect older tools and it still wasn't working as I thought I would. As I mentioned in a another topic, it was making a whistling noise that was really annoying.

Ahh okay, yeah I reckon you'de better suited to a cordless Dyson then. I like the cordless Dysons, one reason is that they're very versatile, so you have the convenience of an absoutely lightweight upright where it's all in front of you, with a motirised head, but then again the floortool and wand are just like a cylinder so you can get in awkward places an upright can't!

The mini motorised tool is better at cleaning than the tangle free head because the bristles are more dense on the V8 onwards and groom very well. I absolutely hated vacuuming stairs with any vacuum but since I got my V6 and V8 I've been doing them a few times a week! before I'd do it about twice a month :/ yeah I know...

I was going to get something from Miele's outlet but it's kinda confusing as I'm not sure if you can buy something over the phone.
On main page it says that purchases can be made over the phone and on terms and conditions it says that products are sold "as seen" so must be viewed prior to purchase.
Then it says that they are unable to process outlet orders or stock enquiries over the telephone or by email.
Have you guys ever purchased anything from there? I doubt it  :whist11: worth asking anyway

Re Miele outlet I thought that was collection only?

I wouldn’t rely on a cordless dyson. Mine needed a new battery after only a year. And the newer dysons the handheld unit is a bit bulky for you vacuuming the sofa etc

Today I was dragged kicking and screaming into a large department store by SWMBO. My mood improved when I saw a line of Dyson cordless machines, V7 all the way up to V11. They were all hooked up and on charge, so of course I went to have a little play with them, as you do.
My main observation is that the weight of the V10 and V11 is considerably more than the V7, V8 etc. From what customers tell me, one of the main reasons for going cordless is because they are so much lighter than a mains upright, but with these newer models they have lost this advantage. I understand that the benefits are a bigger battery with longer runtime, and a bigger bin, but I do get the feeling that they've added too much weight in the process for most users. What do others think?

Oh yeah I completely can't imagine vacuuming sofas, chairs and cushions with V10 or V11. It's quite tiring even with V6 Absolute that we bought in the end.

I have to say... the V11 is ideal for my 2 bedroom little terrace...

It pains me a bit to say it in one way, but is a bit exciting in another. It has the runtime and power and tools, but has its drawbacks.

But it's actually quite close... I grab it more than I thought I would, and even vacuuming the rooms it lasts over a week on battery (I can do the entire house in about 20 minutes fairly well, and I don't vacuum every day because I R Lazy...

I think if you have any pets you definitely require 2 machines the Battery ones aren't up to doing the same kind of clean as a mains operated vac,
I have an ancient Sebo x1.1 and a Dyson v7 at least once a week the sebo takes the strain we have several long haired cats so need to vac every day.
The poor little Dyson crisp packet size excuse for a bin gets filled every 2 days vile thing to empty hair wraps around the middle and i end up teasing it off with a blunt knife.

And end of tenancy cleaning my son does that he has several of the local rental agency's on his books he loves it . I get to fix his kit for him lol.

Of course, it will, I also have a V10 at home, and everything works fine, although you can try to use a wireless Dyson. In any case, it depends on your home layout. If you are still in the process of building and planning your home, then be prepared to consider all the nuances. To do this, you will need to make a list of all the rooms. It would help determine how many rooms will be in your house and what function they will perform. You can look at ready-made house projects on this site boutiquehomeplans.com (https://www.boutiquehomeplans.com/) and choose your version. By the way, you can also make adjustments and add the room needed for your comfort. After all, you will have children or elderly parents who can move in in the future, and it will make a difference.
