First, thanks to everyone here for sharing your knowledge.
I have a DC24 whose brushbar stopped working, despite trying the red button to reset. I don't know the name of the part, but it's where the brush bar motor turns a belt which turns a bit that turns the brush bar. It's that bit that is broken and needs replacement.
- I'm in the US. Where can I buy that part?
- Why doesn't the motor/belt/part assembly lift up after I remove the silver T8 screw like all the instructions say? Seems caught toward the front of the assembly, lifts up just fine by the motor. If I could get this off, looks like I just remove two silver Phillips screws and replace the part, then put it all back together in reverse.
- The red power button (above cyclone unit) that turns the roller on or off sticks. Is this fixable?
- What other parts should I replace while I'm at it? The gray end cap (with padlock icon) seems a little warped, so I'll replace that. Any other maintenance I should be doing while I'm making an order?
Appreciate help from anyone who can answer some of the above questions.

Often, the brushroll and and cap need replacing together.

Thanks for the fast reply. I hadn't seen that one, but had seen similar. However, since I must not have been missing any steps, I tried again to remove it, and one bandage later, I've removed it!
So the recommendation is to replace the drive dog, brush roll, and end cap?
Thoughts on the sticking red grey brush button above the cyclone unit?

Simple fix, actually. Remove three Torx screws, clean stuff, reassemble, replace Torx screws. Doesn't stick!

So I ran into another problem. It looks like a cog attached to the soleplate is broken/stuck. Is that included in the cog assembly? Tough to tell from pictures from (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC24-spare-parts.html/DC24-brushroll-drive-cog-housing) because it's underneath in the photo.

The cog isnt attached to the soleplate on a DC24 (it is on a DC25). There is a cog that drives the belt on the back of that assembly though.
While you are about, as you are in the US, would you mind trying the first three digits of your serial number in our tool?
We have spent some time collating international Dyson serial numbers to incorporate them into a tool that will help with machine identification and parts look up. We are probably over 90% there now. We may be missing some Australian and Canadian serial numbers, together with some of the newer Dysons from everywhere.
So if anyone wants to test it, just enter the first three digits of your serial number and it should tell you your Dyson model. If it doesn't recognise your Dyson serial number, please tell us so that we can add it.

It's definitely a DC24, ordered 2.5 years ago. The serial lookup confirms it.
Edit: Fixed it, read to end.
Here's a picture of what appears to be stuck to the soleplate. It's what I assume needs to be turned by the belt attached to the motor, but appears fixed in place. It's what goes through the cog assembly and broke off, resulting in the brushbar not turning even if the motor was functional. (I assume it didn't burn out.)

Ah! While playing with it, it broke off. It seemed to have fused with the soleplate. It must have done so after the cog broke off, then the belt turned the empty gear (which moved toward the outside now that it was loose and not attached to the rest of the assembly) until it melted to the soleplate. Soleplate no longer has that part fused to it and looks like a normal replacement soleplate now.
Can you confirm what's in the picture is included in the used cog assembly?

Yes, that's part of the cog assembly.

The parts arrived--thanks!--and I reassembled the DC24. While this has got the brush bar turning again, it stops turning on carpet after just a few seconds. If I press the motor reset, it goes again -- for a few seconds. It will run an unlimited amount of time if I left the brush off the carpet so that it just spins in the air.
Since the previous issue is that the broken drive cog broke, which meant that the motor tried to turn the belt until the broken drive cog melted to the side of the vacuum. I wonder if this damaged the motor in some way and if the motor needs to be replaced, or if I simply made some sort of error on re-assembly.

The problem there is most likely the motor; possibly the reset module (PCB).
