Title: DC24
Post by: Stronglead on June 07, 2014, 12:05:24 am
Alright guys,

Need a little help, I come home today from a long time away from home to be told by my mother that her DC 24 brush bar has stopped working... wonderful. So being a engineer type I take a look and check all the usual stuff, belts ok, it turns ok, tried the re-set, made sure the button is pressed etc (actually took the plastic bits off and really made sure the button to activate it was pressed since it is pretty crappy) nothing work. I now suspect the motor is dead but have no way to confirm this. With money being tight I don't want to buy and fit a new motor to find it was the PCB so any suggestions?

When it stopped working it had been caught on something but a burning smell appeared before it was switched off and the bar hasn't worked since I will ask in the morning what kind of burning was smelt.

Thanks

Almost certainly the motor. We have them here (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC24-spare-parts.html/DC24-brushbar-johnson-motor-914703-03). We sell probably 100 motors to two PCB's.

But check you have circa 300v DC coming from the PCB to be on the safe side.
