Hi, I wonder if someone can help? My Dyson (Dc25) has stopped picking up from the attachment, hose tube - I later found a rubber washer loose/ lodged at the lower junction hinge. The washer appears too large to fit anywhere in that area. I can't find a blockage or other reason for the tube not to suck, but the washer would suggest a vacuum leak in an inaccessible place. Can anyone suggest anything or is it beyond a DIY repair and I should pass it on to a Dyson fitter?

That seal fits onto the bottom of the change over valve assembly, the reason you have no suction from the wand is due to this seal not being on.
The change over assy needs removing cleaning and the seal fitting back on the bottom. There is a couple of holes to align up, but in the past i have used a smear of uhu as well.
The seal comes off i find when the assy becomes dry and dirty, when i reassemble them i use a little silicone spray as the seal wipes over the lower hole.
The assembly is the part that moves left and right as you remove and refit the wand, you will see it swinging.
To remove is awkward, you have to remove the small torx screw on the middle of the teardrop, carefully and also when refitting this screw as it damages the plastic guide clip behind if you overtighten.
Once off, ease out the little flexi hose, you will think it's impossible to get out but it will.
clean and wash the whole hose and seal, renew if neccessary... or refit.
Quite a common occurance.

It's a 10 min job, for those with experience, 40min if you never done one before. You will require a small torx bit driver for the screw.

Hi ryevac, thank you so much for responding - and responding so quickly - please accept my apologies for not getting back sooner. I've just today followed your clear instructions, and now our old, but quite reliable Dyson is more than back on form (its even slightly harder to push: it's general suction performance so much better! We were starting to think maybe a new 'hoover' might be needed but our DC25 now has a bit more life in her yet––and that's thanks to you taking time out to help. Cheers pal! Stay safe, you and yours!

You can improve the (Harder to push) issue by checking the condition of the head sole plate - and cleaning, if really rough / scratched etc then thats part of the problem.
A new head on these models makes so much difference.
Getting on a bit now are the 25's so you may be back soon.... ;D
