Title: DC01 - How to cure a squeak on wind down.
Post by: beko1987 on September 03, 2015, 01:45:56 pm
I found myself with 2 DC01 Absolute+'s, so refurbished the less original one to sell it. All went well, until I came to test it when back together..

Right at the end there is an annoying squeak.

Just to test what the issue was, I removed the belt and brushroll

Squeak gone, so that means it's somethign to do with the brushroll...

So, out come the brushroll bearings (which I didnt grease as they span fine, this machine has had a few new parts on it in the not too distant past I think).

So, bearings apart, a quick squirt of

and back together, being careful to screw the baseplate down evenly, then I backed the screws off 1/4 a turn so it clamped and sealed, but didnt distort.

My assistant aided me in testing it afterwards

Job done! Went up for sale last night, 0% interest in it so far (but wasnt expecting much tbh, it's 'old innit'

(I kept the nice AB+ purple tools and the soleplate rubber...)

Good tip! I also like that brushroll, the purple bristles go quite well with the vacuum imo ;D
I also agree with the "old innit" thing, lol. I struggled to even sell a DC04 with all tools and a good clean for £25 :/ it eventually got sold with a lot of posting and bumping though

Dc04s dont seem to be an issue for me,  can sell those easiky for £45-60 depending on how nice people ask for ir!

I know dc01s are not worth alot,  and the first offer of £25 i get ill take.  Dont buy dc01s with the intention to sell but I cant be dealing with duplicate machines,  and I imagine posting a dc01 will be tricky and fraught with danger as even a mild speedbump could cause damage when taken at 69mph in a courier van...

I'll have any fixed soleplate ones at that that have a good and undamaged soleplate, bin flap, wand, motor and hose at that. Just strip those bits off and I'll send you a courier label.  :icon_nod:
