They have redesigned the dyson dc14 and now call it the dc33.
Will its more of a re freshening than a completely new design, They tried a completly new design that with the dc27 and well OOPS .
The cleaner head stays much the same however on the model I got to see the soul plate had wider openings for better suction ( like the usa market dc07&dc14 machines) the cyclone is now the same as the one you will find on a dc27, it is slightly smaller than a dc14's is 2.3 l as apposed to the dc14's 2.7( why do they keep making the capacity smaller ?) and the attachments are no longer stored on top of the unit but on the side of the machine ( dco7 style)
The pre filter is now also back next to the motor ( dc07 style ) and the post Hepa filter now has a clear top which flips to one side for easy access to the filter ( some one was listening at dyson )
The inspection U tube is now clear for checking blockages
I kind of like it, much better than a dc27

We have only had a handful of these in up to now for small jobs. However, I have arranged to buy one from a lady this weekend that will end up on our shop floor after we have serviced and checked it.
Curious to know how you think it is better than a DC27?

I have a dc27 at home and I love it, however the change over mechanism is always jamming and not sealing properly. We have only worked on a few of them here all brought back from the UK but every one has this problem.
The dc33 uses the same mechanism as the 14, 07, and 04 which I have never had any problems with
I do really like the dc27 it has the best on the floor suction of any Dyson upright I’ve ever used

Is there a reason for that do you think? Or do you think it is a design fault?
I cant say we have had many DC27's in with problems of that nature though.

I dont know I have searched the web to find out if it is but I hav'nt found any complaints . Maybe we South Africans are a little hard on our machines

Having now looked at a DC27 and a DC33 side by side, there isnt much in it apart from the see through bit on the DC27 housing and that modified clutch mechanism from what I can see. Apart from that, they seem to be virtually the same machine.
There doesn't really seem to be any reason to choose one over the other for me; although the 33 is listing as more expensive here at the moment.

I have both here too and think the same thing.
I do like the fact that you can see the brush roll on the dc27, same motor two

Plastic wand - a bit plastic fantastic.
Probably OK as it only seems to be a face-lifted DC14.
