Cleaning with the DC07 today, done most of the house then suddenly had no suction at all, so took the filter out and it is spotless, unscrewed the cyclone lid & there was just a fine layer of dust so I emptied it, banged it all out and tried again still no power :angryman: :snivel:
So I stripped and washed it to this level

checked the wand, checked the hose, checked the blockage traps & cleaned the brushbar. NOTHING!
Does the post-motor filter affect suction? Mine's bad..

Are the two vertical channels each side of the chassis clear? Do you have suction at the wand?

Yes, they are clear and not really suction is better at the base but the wand/hose isn't blocked :sick0012:

Is the carriage mechanism working OK? That switches suction between the wand and base. The bit below the valve cover assembly that comes off with two buttons.

You sure the motor is OK?
That photo you posted shows the post motor area to be very, very black and carboned up.

That doesn't look too healthy from here.

It's black plastic, always has been. I wiped it with a damp cloth and the cloth turned grey, motor's been working as normal I think

Remove the cyclone, there are two channels in the chassis. One is rectangular; one is D-shaped. Run the machine and put your hand over the one on the right. Is the suction strong there?
