Hi, any progress on this one, my mates one has a green light but brush bar not spinning 🤔

Actually, I meant I'd be getting a cheaper machine.  Vax machines with a long reach at 100 seem OK, we actually don't have that much carpet needing vacuuming!

I'd rather recycle the machine into someone's hands than throw it away though.  Will look into ebay etc.

If you remove the brushroll and then run the motor, does the noise disappear? If so, it's the brushroll, rather than the motor or housing itself.

Based on what I've seen with this one,  you will be before long. But the plot thickens: I googled the brushroll part number and all the pics come up showing it without the end cap. So it does seem to be detachable, I just wasn't brave enough to risk prying it off and breaking it: not at 35 a shot for a new one.
They are cleanable using my method, it's just very tedious. It seems that every job on a ball model takes at least twice as long as on a conventional machine.

I think I'll just get a 100 machine off Amazon and be done with it.

I'd not do that. The real cost of selling on Amazon is about 20%, that and shipping means the seller is getting 72. You cant properly refurb a machine at that price point. Caveat Emptor with Amazon and eBay.

Is there a market for a fully working body (minus a working brush roller) for spares?  I'm guessing the weight / size means that ebay isn't a popular route!

Easy enough to ship with parcel2go.com

Maybe better just to replace the full cleaner head.

Beko did a review of the UP24 in which he says that the brushroll appears to be one piece with the end cap?

Now you say it, yes.

We don't see that many of those yet.

I'm not surprised it's wrongly listed with Q, because Dyson's own site is wrong!

I think that the standard head that comes with the Ball 2 Animal is what is known as the 'Epicyclic Head', and the end cap is definitely not the slotted one as shown.
Anyway, all's well that ends well: I spent a merry hour picking out a ton of hair from between the end cap and the brushroll end with a DC04 button removal tool, and now it's stopped screeching and jamming. However, it can only be a matter of time before it builds up again, as there is no proper seal between the 2 parts. Yet another flawed design I fear.

Thanks again; I may get round to testing that tonight, but as I'm assuming now that that motor has gone I think I'll just get a 100 machine off Amazon and be done with it.  Blowing up the other PCB reminded me how inept I could be with electrics!

Thanks: definitely a mistake: the V6 end cap is slotted to allow removal with a coin, the UP24 one isn't. Beko did a review of the UP24 in which he says that the brushroll appears to be one pieced with the end cap?
Is the UP24 brushroll listed as a separate component by any chance?
The same cleaner head appears to be used in the UP22.

The brushroll is 968644-01.

Q lists the end cap as 965665-03 but that's a V6 one so I think that's a mistake.

If the end cap won't come off it must be melted on.
