Hi guys i need a suction change over valve for a dc14. I want the one with the white clips. Anyone local to me lincolnshire nottinghamshire leicestershire? Excuse the state of it as i havent started on it yet.
-
The hose should have a white cable hook too
-
Are you talking about the valve pipe assembly shown missing on the bottom right ?
Mvacs sells them for £1.99 each.
-
Ive put a dc07 one on it. Going to refurbish it and sell it on.
-
I've refurbished the DC14 excluding cyclone. Tell me what you think of it, as the non-generic colours are driving me mad.
The back hose is genuine but the cord wrap is silver as opposed to white. The change over valve is off a DC07, and when I opened the brush roll housing, the roll hadn't been put in correctly, so it shredded the housing, so I fitted a new one for a DC33 or a late DC14.
Its clean and will work well when the cyclone is done. I dont think the general public will care about the non-original colour parts as I've seen some awful mish-mash ones on eBay many times.

The devil is in the detail when one looks at the price point.
Many people are happy with a budget machine that works OK. Only purists know what colour what should be where.
My rule is you can get away with non-original coloured components if they look as though they might belong there and don't look out of place.
The darker brushroll housing doesn't hurt it (this stuff is becoming limited in colours available anyway as Dyson rush to kill the non-ball parts supply). I wouldn't personally use a valve cover with yellow buttons, but that is probably easy to say when you have a few hundred in boxes to choose from. On its own, it is a non-issue.
If it's less than £100, the machine looks fine.

Thanks for the advice mvacs. Ive only sold 2 dc14 models and they were at cost to friends and say a tenner extra for me doing it. I have genuine tools to go with it aswell. Will probably mark up at 65 and go down to 50 as i paid pence for it.

It's cheap enough at that. I'd hang on at £65 myself. Its the best machine Dyson ever made IMO and new ones @ £400 fall to bits. We all have DC14's at home. We sell ours all day long on those two simple premises. Like a Morris Minor - they work, you can buy all the bits, and they are cheap to fix. I cant get enough DC14's. I'd sell ONLY DC14's if I could.
-
The 7's still make a good machine though dont you think. I would like a dc14 origin for myself but they are all battered. :(
-
We have found DC07's have dropped off the last few months. But maybe its because our price point between the two is close. DC07's are more work to refurb because of that cyclone. They are probably as good as each other, but DC07's are getting older now and they take more work to buff up and make look nice.

I would rather strip an 07 cyclone assembly as the DC14 has 7 LONG screws which are annoying, the 07 has 3 normal sized ones :) Less to wash aswell
-
I find the dc07 cyclones are hard to clean as you cant get to the roots as its a sealed system. Making them hard to dry out aswell. Dc14 cyclone any day. :)

That's where a good battery screwdriver comes into it's own, makes removing long screws a doddle :grinn:

I need one of those lol :)
-
Lidl do their own brand of Lithium ion screwdriver with a good selection of bits for £15.00. Excellent bit of kit or Argos do the Worx version, another excellent choice at about the same price.
Nowadays I use & like both of them.

I think it looks fine, couldn't really tell the colours are not as they should be. I hate cleaning 07 cyclones but I can sell dc07s all day long, much prefer dc14 though, replaced our dc25 with one.

Well its done,
