Hello, from Ireland.
I don't have a Dyson, but will be getting one in the near future. I have a Dyson motor, though :)
I'll post some information as to how that came about in the 'Other Vacuums' section, later on.

Welcome to the site!
Come on, I want to know the tale.........
-
Oh, it's simple enough - I have an elderly Nilfisk and didn't / couldn't justify the spares prices for a new motor.
I found the DC05/08 motor fitted with a slight spacer needed.

I like the sound of that! I kept an old battered Hoover Constellation around for years intending to fit an old dc02 motor I have lying around to, but got rid of it to someone a month ago as it kept getting in the way, and space is tight
The new owner sprayed it gold and fitted an 1800w miele motor, it hits the ceiling now!
Welcome btw :tiphat:

More power.... ;D
This is just a cheapy venture, as I didn't want to spend all that much to see if it worked or not. If this motor pops its clogs in a year or two, I'll replace it with something better. For now, it's running well and with all the casing cracks fixed (I think that's common on the GM series) it sucks lemons through a straw.

Would love to see a picture, old nilfisks are always lovely, command a high price on eBay too, always people wanting them!

I was really neglectful about taking pics when I did it, but I'll be pulling it apart again to insert an anti-torque bodge (not that the motor's moving, but just in case it wants to, some way to prevent it) and I'll picify it then.
In the meantime, there's this...

And here it is...
