Post by: beko1987 on April 17, 2014, 08:06:33 pm
I had a box arrive today from absolutepurplelime of this parish!

No Dysons here  :underchair:

Very well packaged!

Made in March 2001, so VERY late for one of these! They stopped altogether in late 2001. Not hard to see why these didnt sell, to quote someone from facebook "Why buy a machine that looks like its from 1984 when you could have a DC04!"He has a point!

Note also that Candy have just called this a Junior, rather than a Turbopower Junior as they have been known since 1983...

Bit of tape on the handle

Looked worse than the scratch it was hiding!

Beautiful!

Looks barely used

Works very well too. The motor is much louder than its 400w grandad, I must compare the tool suction on them at some point!

Started stripping it down!

I've never known a pieceof foam in this bit before

Bit of fluff building up under the bottom screw cover

Flipped over now

Very modern looking motor

This piece of wireing goes from the motor to the spine. Again, never seen this before, the older machines dont have it!

Top chassis off

Release pedal falls off during this bit

Release mechanism. If you get a turbopower that leans or worse it's the bit this sits on thats snapped. Can sometimes be glued up.

Belt end seal

Foam cushion removed

These types of fixings cant be removed without risking breaking the wheel, and as you cant get the wheels anymore, I'm not risking that, so they can stay!

Motor next

Bellows and suction seal off

Candy must have sealed the fan chamber up, or someones been here before. I always seal it up, stops so much suction leakage! Up to 1995 (my second oldest) they were just pushed together

Motor split

Bottom bearing out

Looks like these later bearings can be re-packed which is nice

Amtek!

Split the brushroll. The bearings cannot be split sadly unline some of the 1980's bearings, so cant do much here

All done and ready for washing. Got the Miele out to clean the rug off

Soon it can lead a quiet retirement with its friends!

Still needs a polish, but a quick test fire reveals it sounds smoother than it did!
