hi guys sold a dc24 fully stripped and checked etc
3 weeks later i am phoned to say the brushbar keeps cutting out they press reset then is ok for a shart time then cutts out again any thougts please

I would exchange the cleaner head to solve the problem for the customer in the first instance, and when the old one is back try to isolate the issue down to either the PCB or motor. More likely a dodgy motor that's on its way out IMO.

i get more problems with these balls than any dc07/14 /33 i sell loads never get one back about 3 in 10 years

We are also contemplating not selling ball machines pretty soon. They cost so much to get right, profit is not much more than a standard upright, but its way more money sitting on the floor having ten of those sat there.
We have to pay maybe four times more for a semi-scrap 24/25 than we do for a 4/7. Madness really. So many need cleaner heads and more and more need new motors, If one needs both, that's the profit gone on that one...
Tools, filters and bits are way more expensive too. Even after-market.
Stocking ball machines has become more of a public service. :biglaugh:

I have a DC15 it is a nice machine, but i only use it as a loan out vacuum, would be uncomfortable about selling it.
So it is a bit of a public service for me. :king:

I have to agree about the 24's. I tend to put a new motor in now as standard because a semi-scrap one has more than likely been abused and the motors just aren't up to much.
It slims my profit down to similar to a older non-ball, but from a customer satisfaction point of view, I'd rather that than they bring it back a month or so later saying the motor's knackered.
Also, it's a pain trying to get hold of a decent soleplate as they can't be bought separately. Sods law usually means I don't have a spare one when it's most needed :'(
Oh yeah and I agree about replacing the dodgy cleanerhead and sorting out the issue for another time/machine.

Hello Folks - re the DC24 intermittent running. I have the same problem, but bought a new motor and the problem persists. The motor is 'hunting' and regularly cuts out and needs to be reset. So cleaning is a stop start process. Should I buy a whole new cleaner head?
I note your comments re ball cleaners.
Also, can I say that the website and the instructions for replacing the motor are excellent!

If you buy a new cleaner head, you then have the old one to cannibalise for spares in the future.
