Title: DC24 Brush Reset/PCB/Motor Question
Post by: M1santhrope on March 20, 2016, 11:44:01 am

Wonder if anyone can help. I've just bought a used dc24. It worked well for a few days, then when vacuuming the rug the brush bar stopped. I tried pushing the reset but no good. Taking the head apart I get 240vac coming onto the pcb but no voltage on the output to the motor. I've checked the reset switch, but the 2 contacts seem to be open circuit all the time, even when the button is depressed. Should these go closed circuit, or should they be normally closed and go open when the button's pushed? I have been told if the pcb his faulty then the motor is too probably. Is there any way I can check this?
I'd be grateful for any info you might have.

There is 2 wires going from PCB to motor, to test this best is to unplug the motor, connect brushbar to main body, recline it then switch it on measuring the dc voltage on them 2 wires, if you have power then is just motor, if not then could be PCB it self.

Also make sure your mulitmeter is set to dc voltage and if you have dial should be set to something around 500v as there should be over 300v DC from PCB to motor
