Title: DC04 Brushroll Housing Compatability?
Post by: macman on January 30, 2018, 09:20:27 am
Can anyone please confirm if the brushroll housings are the same on the DC04 and DC07 (clutched models)? I know they are on non-clutched models, but this is a DC04 Absolut with clutch.
I had to swap the cleaner head for a used DC07 one due to the clutch mounting points snapping off. Since then, I've got an intermittent graunching noise (only when the clutch is engaged) which could be the belt rubbing on something, or the brushroll moving in it's mounting points?
I've also changed the clutch, brushroll housing, brushroll and soleplate for DC07 parts. Everything else at this end of the 2 machines appears to be identical (cleaner head, clutch and cover, brushroll and soleplate), so surely the brushroll housing must be too?
Man Vacs don't list a brushroll housing for the clutched DC04/DC07, so no clues there...

The old DC04 one with a bumper was replaced on later models by the one piece DC07 one - they are interchangeable. The 04 soleplate goes on a DC07, etc. We dont list many of them as very seldom they sell. 7 brushroll ends are OK on a 4, 4 ones might not fit all 7s if they have a brush on the end. Generally, swapping these parts between 07 and 07 causes no issues.

Thanks. Since I've ruled out everything else, I'm going to fit a new brushroll, possibly the reused one was slightly bent. My first thought was something like a bent motor shaft-the I remembered I'd fitted a new motor only a couple of months ago.
I hate trying to fault-find by swapping parts out, but sometimes it's the only option.
