hello everyone
i have been given the task of finding why there is no suction on 2 dc27s after replacing the motors.
i have never worked on one of these before so thought i would ask here first (just incase its something simple and dont have to completely strip the machine).
a friend of mine has replaced 3 motors on 3 different dc27s one is working fine but the other 2 have no suction at all. the motor is running fine everything looks on the outside as good but no suction from either bottom or wand.
any advice would be very welcome before i start taking it apart.
thankyou bob..

Is there any suction on the chassis inlet when the cyclone is removed?
-
no
to be honest when you feel in the bottom hose and wand there is the tiniest amount of suction barely noticeable. the same from the chassis inlet.
i was wondering if there is something they have put back wrong?
thankyou for getting back to me.

Seems like whoever did the motor did something quite wrong if there is no suction on the chassis.

exactly what i was thinking.he has worked upto dc14 but wont do the ball models,
ill take it aprt now and see if i can find anything out of place.
thankyou for your help. bob

finally got around to stripping it today. all seemed fine couldn't see anything out of place but being the first one i have worked on wasnt sure what i would find.
built it back together and got a bit of suction but nowhere near what it should be.(very confused).
this might sound daft but when the filters are in place do they seal the machine any better? as i had no filters given with the machine to try.but the seals around the filter housing seem fine.
any help would be greatly appreciated as i don@t want this to be the first dyson to beat me lol.
thankyou in advance..

Yes lack of filters would do it - the pre motor filter on the side acts as a seal and without it you won't get much, if any suction.

thankyou russ
i thought i was going mad but as i looked at the machine after building it i thought maybe this could be the reason.
ill get some filters and let you know.
thankyou agin. bob
