Title: motor overhaul

Hey Guys,
Got a project on an old Dc07, attempting to overhaul the YDK motor So i've inspected the brushes and they seem o'k, just changed the bearings on the armeture and put back together but now when i start the hoover it the motor sounds ok and has good suction yet there is a bit of smoke! i'll upload some pics and if you can give me any advice/pointers i'd appreciate it very much!

850kb is the max res i believe. lower the res on your camera if possible.

Have you got any grease on the commutator or brushes by any chance ?

I did put grease on the shaft to help the bearings on, maybe it's been contaminated. I'll inspect and let you know, thanks!

I normally wipe any grease off after doing any work on motors as when it spins up for first time the grease can fly all over. Also i power motor up before full re assembly. electrical caused smoking smells metallic / and grease smells like your car burning oil if you know what i mean.
part strip it and power it up carefully and try to reveal whats burning ? tbh motors are cheap...

Just cleaned it up and all looks OK.  Can't try it thought because I've gone and broke the switch putting it all back together haven't i! Got one on order should arrive Friday. Thanks for the advice mate 👍
