Hello MVacs,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I have tried different working dust bins so the problem is somewhere in the main body.

Regards,

Thank you very much for the advice.
I will try the tear down and hopefully not make it worse :)

This is Brooke’s Vacuums in Brooklyn, New York.

We visited last month while nearby in New York. They are the oldest vacuum store in Brooklyn, they were the first Dyson dealer in the US, and of course, nowadays they are Sebo dealers too. We had a good chat about all things vacuums with the owner and swapped a few ideas.

There is a strip down topic >>here<< on one of those.

If you have an electric hose variant, it will be a broken internal loom near the moving part you mention. They are fiddly to fix though. A used replacement from somewhere like eBay might be the best bet unless you are especially practical.

There's some background on this topic.

Chippenham is earlier than Malmsbury, but not especially rare. Bath is the rare one. However, none of them are worth much nowadays, rarity doesn't equal value in this case.

We sold a perfect refurbished one (>>topic here<<) last year and it did nothing, well under £100.

Sebo Vacuum Cleaners / Re: Sebo X4 slow to start

Later ones have what is called a soft start PCB in. It is likely the one that starts slower is badged as Eco and the other not.

Sebo Vacuum Cleaners / Re: Sebo X4 Motor Intermittent Noises

I just asked our engineer and showed him your video and photos.

He feels the top bearing is shot and the commutator *might* be OK. That would account for some of the noise there, and certainly the sparking. However, without replacing the top bearing and bench testing it, there is no other way to know if the commutator is too far gone or not. Only when the bearing is fixed and the armature runs true will you know if the sparking subsides.
