Title: Dyson DC41 Reset Switch Blowing?
Post by: dysondestijl on September 30, 2020, 07:58:50 pm
Hi all, wondered if anyone can help me. Got a DC41 in the workshop today that I picked out of a skip some time ago. The brush head does not work.
I have tried other known working brush heads on the machine and still got nothing. The loom has been tested fine, as has the other wiring, the micro switch in the changeover unit, the brushroll on off/switch. All fine.
However the brush bar reset switch located in the switch housing was burnt/blackened. So I fitted a new one. Plugged in and boom another flash and that one went too, without being pressed I will add. The cleaner then tripped the main ring.
Can anyone suggest why this is happening? What is causing the reset switch to explode when switched on? Could there be a short in the PCB? Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks Rye for your advice, just got to try and forget that I threw away two damaged DC41 spines still with PCBs inside just weeks ago! 😬😬

 ;D
Never throw anything away....
store it in my garage.... if you can get in it  :snivel:
Sounds like a dead short over the primary mains input to me, possibly a s/c bridge or diode... not really familiar with the 41 - or have i just forgotten...

I do hate throwing things away, but occasionally, when one cannot see the floor anymore for dyson parts, one must have a clear out 🤣

When there's no more space on the floor then its time to hang racking from the ceiling.... ;D
