Title: Difference Between DC41 MK1, MK2 and ERP Models
Post by: Parwaz7862 on July 10, 2015, 12:30:32 am
I'm glad they improved the DC41 with the new Mk2 and the cinetic big ball though ;D

What do you reckon they improved? I have yet to see a list of differences between the MK1 and MK2 DC41. If you know of them, please make a topic on it. All the ones I have seen look the same.

And the Cinetic Big Ball (DC75), well, what can I say? Having looked at them, I'll still recommend a DC14 over one any day of the week.

The stabiliser thing is stiffer so you can wheel it from one room to another, whereas my original DC41 reclines with less pressure. The roller wheel in the brush housing was a problem for the DC41 making it hard to push, they redesigned it on  the new ones so the roller wheel thing won't fall out. The brushbar is very stiff, so beats the carpet and grooms better. It has a red max/min slider at the front of the cleaner head which controls a rubber squeeche to control the suction concentration at the cleaner head. The mk2 cleaner head also has a plastic rim behind the brushbar like the DC40 to focus the suction more. The performance at the cleaner head is slightly more powerful than the original DC41, but the original DC41 has slightly more hose suction. The main unit of the DC41 is pretty much the same I think besides a 700w motor. My DC41 produces quite a lot of heat, stupidly. I don't think the 700w motors do. My DC14 only gets warm, not as hot as the DC41 even with the 1600W motor! DC41 has 1300w but quite stupid of the DC41 really. Even the 1400w Dyson DC07/14 motors don't do this. I made a thread about my DC41 btw, yesterday I think it was. PS I have a question, does the DC41 have an air relief valve? Mine doesn't activate when I put my hand over the hose :/ the DC40 does

The Cinetic big ball is the same as a DC41, but the ball is bigger, there are two post motor filters on both sides of the ball for more airflow and excellent filtration and no filters

I love the DC14, still do actually. I used it today and I already got used to the DC41, it was SOOO easy to push! it was a joy, it didnt seem like it was on but it's a lovely and reliable vacuum. I won't ever be without a DC14 (I hope) because they are really good. The DC41 just looks nice and has good performance, they are the only reasons I like it as well as the cable. Actually, the  DC41 cable is longer than the DC14 cable! I was surprised, longer by about a metre or two. If the DC14 had a much stiffer brushbar I would love it. the DC41 grooms better and agitates more tho.I like both, but if I had to live with one Dyson for the rest of my life it would probably be the DC14 or an 07... much more reliable

With it now, so the Mk2 is actually the ERP version.

We got a cleanerhead in today for a DC75 with the slidey thing on the front that fits "ERP" models of DC41 too.

As I didn't know what ERP was, I asked someone who would know.

So its the watered down EU pantywaisted version with a few design faults tweaked?

I am curious Parwaz, what changed on the middle wheel that was a clear design fault (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php?topic=912.0)? I haven yet seen any revision.

They made the black thing around the roller wheel a bit better, thicker plastic I think, it's harder to describe but it looks like it's held in better.

My DC41 cleaner head arrived today, still waiting for the cyclone. The head is the same design, so I can see it breaking again in the future, ugh.

I have a Dc41 Mk2 now, one difference that is noticeable in use only is that the brushroll motor kicks in about 1 second after the vacuum is turned on similar to the DC15. The DC15 one sounds like it's speeding up but the Mk2 Dc41 brush motor instantly bursts into life. I am unsure as to what causes this soft start...

I noticed that change in later DC24 cleanerheads, the one without the red reset button.

There's the same delay when you switch the machine on too

Interesting!
Hopefully this will give the motors a longer lifespan

I got a new DC25 cleaner head from Dyson in November 2014 and everything seems identical, even the motor in use
