says (in part)

Independent vacuum shops  ...  experienced staff  ... trying before you buy.

Please is there such a shop in London? When I Googled, nearly all the places I found were Argos
or similar.

Thank you

For Dyson or Sebo?

I dont know, I am swithering between Dyson, Sebo & Miele.
But it seems illogical to go to an independent shop, having
already decided what make to buy.

I'd not bother with Miele as they are not what they were.

Can you outline your needs? What type of usage, property, floors, etc?

Yes: apology for going off topic. Medium size house; 2 floors; all fitted carpet
except kitchen & bathrm; some loose rugs that usually crumple when I try to
vacuum them; lots of corners where dust collects; no smoking or pets; after
many years our DC04 has died  :angryman:(and my wife says it is too heavy anyway).

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been away for a week with no Internet connection.

I’d go for the Sebo X7 basic model in white, but add the extension hose for the stairs.

The only drawback for your wife as it is about the same weight as a DC04 but much more versatile.

Thank you. Unfortunately this is not what I was asking. I was asking: is there
an independent vac shop in London? I would like to look at machines; try them;
how much do they weigh? is it an awful trauchle to clean them? etc. Nothing
personal but I really do not want to have to go all the way to Manchester.

I’ll ask Sebo for you. The commercial manager is a member of the forum here.

Here’s a link to the SEBO website store locator, by putting your postcode in it will list retailers close to you, they are organised in proximity to your postcode.

John Lewis?

Then make your excuses and leave, and buy from the SeboShop who will price match and be able to sell you an extension hose cheaper!

John Lewis don’t have the full range of uprights on display IIRC.

They will try and put him into the X7 Excel, which we wrote about here: https://seboshop.co.uk/blog/sebo-x7-excel-john-lewis/

But yes, we can always put a better deal together than John Lewis.

Yea but all the machines themselves are identical in every way, just the tools and fancy lights that differ.

I can see now why you declined my help on writing the website copy...

In my opinion, no nearby Sebo vacuum store in London (https://seboshop.co.uk/blog/buy-sebo-vacuum-spares-bags-london/) will allow you to test a vacuum cleaner right in the store. It's just stupid, if the vacuum cleaner is going to be right so bad, try reading reviews on the Internet or watching YouTube reviews!
