Having acquired one today in good nick, but with a blown motor (filter were clogged solid, so no surprise there), I can't work out how to remove the cyclone top once it's hinged open. Do you just spread the lugs on the top's back hinge and hope it doesn't break?
It's the whole top I'm trying to remove for cleaning, not the handle.
Overall, I'm less than impressed with the DC14. In the understandable attempt to reduce the weight vs the DC07, Dyson seem to have reduced the durability somewhat. The bin, for example, seems very flimsy in comparison.

That surprises me! I think the DC14 is a good improvement on the DC07 and is generally the model I'd recommend to anyone not sure of what model Dyson they want.

I sellmore dc14 than any other model the customers seem to like them

You will find a 33 or a 41 somewhat less inspiring.
For us too, DC14's are now outselling 07's for the first time.
