I have washed the top filter as usual and dried it well before replacing.....looked at hepa filter and its black as with pieces of carbon underneath....stinks too...nasty burning smell.
There no loss of suction and have checked for blockages. Does it just need replacement hepa filter?
Or is it the motor?! We've only had it 3 years!

A popping/bubbling noise from the motor area, combined with a strong smell is the motor. :dead-dyson:

Is it registered for Dysons 5 year warranty as they'll come out and fix it for free if so 8)
