Title: DC17 issue in the UK

Well I’ve used the machine for the 2nd time and I’ve gone to do upstairs, made sure the voltages are correct and as I powered the machine in it just kept pulsing and stank of motor burning out. So I’ve left it and tried again now it powers on but absolutely stinks like it’s about to burn out. Can anyone help with what this could be as I’ve never had a English machine that’s done this and then worked after and I’m gonna really struggle to find a new motor for it since it’s an American machine.
Any help would be appreciated

On closer inspection it seems after this incident the machine now has 0 suction so I believe that the fan may of come loose and stopped spinning I’m going to strip it down and inspect the motor

What transformer are you running it on?

Incidentally, motors aren't expensive if you happen to need one. Here's one (https://www.ebay.com/itm/264890062818).

I’m using the one you suggested but the 3000 watt version it’s a really strange one. I’ve seen that motor on eBay but my machine dosent have the spindle.however I think I’ve found another loophole to get a motor as the us version of the dc27 was very similar to the dc17 and the motors look almost identical so I might get a BNIB one of those when I get a spare minute

Sorry to be a little late back to this thread but about a month ago I was vacuuming with the dc17 when all of a sudden it somewhat pulsed and smelt of smoke before I managed to turn it off. After that the machine powered up and ran but had ZERO suction.
Fast forward to today and I have finally figured out what happened and it’s something I’ve never seen before.
The fan blades of the motor have snapped away from their original mounting points and have somewhat bent to create a closed circle around themselves causing the machine to have no suction I’ll post a picture of what I mean.
Has anyone else ever seen this?

I wonder if something got through to the motor and caused it to jam?
