Dyson DC04 / Re: Zorbster motor swap

Also whatís the difference between a Zorbster YV-514, vs a regular 04s YV-511. Is the 514 purely standing for the fact is has a different designed TOC (although being swappable)

Yes, that's the only difference.

We tend not to put 2200s in DC04s as they suck a bit harder and can make the machine hard to push. But if you choose to, I see no problem with using the Zorbster TOC if it fits.

Cheers for that. Iíve not really had any problems with higher power motors in 04s before. Iíve got a bit of a mismatch of motors in my personal DC04 machines lol;
Ameteks in my Silver lime and De Stijl,
YV-511 in my yellow/grey,
YV-2200 in my Absolute+ purple lime and now Zorbster
and a Quаltex 1600w in my daily Absolute+ grey, purple and yellow.

If Iíve ever had any issues with them sticking to the floor I just remove the soleplate seals which seems to bleed off just enough suction to push easy

Wanted to nick the 1200w YV-514 from the Zorbster for an 07 for my grandparents, it was clutch converted with 04 bits so like you mention glued down a little too hard for them even with the seals removed, uses a little less electricity and I find the 04 motors quieten down the 07 quite a bit without affecting performance too much

We haven't done enough of these yet to have shoehorned different motors in them. Dyson are still sucking up the warranty on them as they get five years here.

You're a pioneer!

update for the unlikely browser: I've disassembled a UP24 completely and discovered the motor is the same form factor as the DC50 and UP15 Small Ball in the US. That means the max power is 760W whether it's UK or US power. The bucket is an entirely different design from other Ball 2s, but I'm investigating how I might squeeze something else in.

Dyson DC04 / Zorbster motor swap
« Last post by Dysonboy on July 01, 2022, 01:04:58 AM »
Hi all, rarely post on here anymore but Iím still alive and dysoning lol

A while back I finally managed to acquire me a DC04 Zorbster which nearly completes my set, Iím just lacking a blue 04i and the constant max now!

That aside- doing a motor swap, I know the TOC can be swapped onto a regular motor and 07/14 etc motors can be fitted. Has anyone come across any LONG TERM effects of running a Zorbster TOC on a 1400w YV-2200? My only concern is that when itís used in low power mode with the bin off it may overload the circuitry and eventually cause it to break down after a while?

Also whatís the difference between a Zorbster YV-514, vs a regular 04s YV-511. Is the 514 purely standing for the fact is has a different designed TOC (although being swappable)

We (a charity) got given one of these. This seems to have **two** switches.
I pushed the visible switch, a green pilot lights, motor doesnt run. There is
a row of buttons; end one labelled "reset". when I push that the motor runs.
There are some other buttons; AFAIK none of these does anything. There is
a row of lights; I think they are to show how strongly it is sucking. When it is
running they are all  on & there is no visible way to make it suck more gently.

Please is this normal? Thank you.

Cylinder & Canister Dysons / Re: DC05 clear, P for Panasonic
« Last post by MadeinHolland on June 26, 2022, 09:13:33 PM »
The scrap DC05 arrived and itís was a complete body, but in a neglected state. Letís say as French as a 2CV in a old barn ..

Long story short: disappointed at first it did not have the YDK motor and plastics, but thrilled that the Panasonic motor still works fineÖ NEVER expected that to be honest, and the seller could not have tested it either since the powercord was cut off  :'(

Ready to put a DC05 back to working order.
Anyone in need of DC05 clear parts?  :king:

Check where the dust goes into the machine, there's a flap there that gets stuck (pulsing means the machine has found a fault, then reboots to see if the fault has gone)

I've had faults with the head cause issues like this, does it still do it with just the machine and no extension tube/attachments?

I still prefer to buy such things new, and they should be of high quality. Also, I usually call the cleaning service monthly to clean the entire apartment.
However, this is how I treat other everyday issues. For example, when I needed to find out how much to snake a toilet, I immediately found an excellent company that deals with these issues. I ordered the toilet installation right away so as not to think about this problem later. It seems to me that this greatly simplifies life.
