Hi guys, where can I buy a DCO7 motor but genuine. (Does Manchester vacs sell them). As I am going to send the crappy fake one back where I got it from the Ebay one. Thanks

As the product description says, you have four choices. If you want to pay around double for a genuine YDK, that option is available. If you don't then the Premium option is recommended.

Mvacs sell a pattern motor that is probably better than the ones Dyson sell, as the company who make it would have sunk millions in R&D, and build etc to make a good product. From all our collective experiences they are as likely to go bang as a genuine dyson one, possibly less so as I doubt Dyson have updated the design since it was first made over probably 20 years ago (DC04).

Buy the £29 one from mvacs, who only sell them because they trust them, and spend the difference from a Dyson one on new filters! There are cheaper motors out there, from Quаltex down to ebay and we stay away from them for a reason. I'm sure Stu can regale us with many hilarious* stories about motor failures, he's a good person to get a cross reference of the market from, buying them a pallet or 2 at a time!
I have a burnt out DC07 stripped now which has a genuine dyson motor in, it can happen to any of them, no point in paying more than you need for the same odds. Saying that, I've used the supposedly dodgier ones (the £20 ones) a few times and had no issues, but I've only used about 10 in my entire refurbishing career (as I try to buy working machines to save on that) and not had any issues, but obv the more you sell/have a shop, the more you care, vs me who works off facebook that will just go into Customer Service mode and apologise and just fit another motor FOC to keep my reputation up, it's a gamble I'm currently winning on...

I bought a MTR299 for £20 including a pre filter & post filter, was fine and sold it in a DC07, I presume that's the crappy one which will blow up before 2017? Hope not
Also didnt know your fake Dyson motors had been really well engineered to last very long ;D Awesome!!!

For some reason, well lets say you have 100 Dc04's, about 10 of them would probably be burnt out
100 early DC07's (2001-2004) maybe about 20 blown motors
100 DC33's, about 60 of them would be blown up, I dont know why but I seen more DC33's blown up than any other vacuum in history ever!
I never seen a Dc03 blow up either, only like 2 or 3

Good point, really thin filter vs a thick sponge on the 07/14
But I noiced the Early Dc07s hardly burn out but later Malaysian ones from post 2005 do?
