Had a DC07 for many many years and cleaned the filters twice a month (trust me it needs it in my house :'(, 6 people, 2 very messy dogs and a cat. :offtopic: ) and I've noticed it smells like old people/burning so I took out the post-motor filter and its black and very dusty :underchair: so do I need a new one or will this do for another couple of months?

Is this a pad or a HEPA filter?

You can wash it out, and put it to dry for 24 hours.
