Title: Are cylinders that bad?
Post by: Eddie Honda on January 28, 2016, 11:53:32 pm
I brought with my from the last house, a DC07 non clutched model.

Given that we're in the small house and all of it is hard floor bar some stairs carpet. Would something like a DC08 to drag around and sweep up be better than a DC07 all floors?

Or do I just get a handheld to zap up the dusty bits as and when. I spy a DC31 for 50 yoyos...

Definitely a cylinder. Don't know if you can get a hard floor only brush for the dc08,  but you can for the dc02 (normal 32mm tools too so a cheap eBay one will do).  And a dc02 will be more than capable for hard floors and a bit of carpet!

Handheld? Meh,  better off with a good cylinder imo!

In fact a non clutched dc07 will be the worse as you can't even turn the brush roll off for the hard floor (unless you remove the belt)

Yeah, I used to use the DC07 only on the living room rug which has been rolled up and stored upstairs for sometime now. Other than that, it's out with the wand and get the hump with it tipping over!

The only reason the handheld crossed my mind was a friend had one in Germany and it was not bad for frequent spot cleaning. I think it might be "easy" enough for Mrs Honda as she is not exactly quick shall we say at getting the regular one plugged in. ;)

I suppose I can always go back to having a DC07 the day a more carpeted house is rented.
