Title: Can anyone instruct on the replacement of beater bar belt?

Can anyone instruct on the replacement of beater bar belt?

I am told there is only one to the clutch and attached to bar. (dyson phone rep) Gave me part number:  902514-01.  But I see two (2) belts on schematic.  Is there only one, or are there two?  In the United States.  Yellow Model DC14

I was snipping all those hairs off the beater bar....and....oops!  Yup, snipped a scratch on the belt!  Been THREE WEEKS without my house vacuumed.  Been searching since in stores.  Finally discoveved today after calling why I can't find the blasted belt!

I have no authorized repair centers near me.  I don't mind doing it myself, but need to know how.

I'm really quite frazzled that A STUPID BELT can't be purchased locally and replaced easily!!!!!!!

Thanks a bunch!

I just dug out of my old files a set of DC14 exploded drawings that may be useful to some of you guys.

The yellow DC14 is a non-clutch model (I assume that doesn't make a difference in the US) so it is just the one belt from the brushroll to the motor. A new belt can be quite tough to stretch but is definitely a DIY job - part you want is 907481-02 and should be readily available for you to order.

The schematic is for the clutched version so won't quite be the same as yours

Good luck!

I am sure I have seen US yellow models with a clutch Russ - I might be wrong.....

Momof4, does your DC14 have this knob pictured below?

Yes, it indead has the clutch.  It has the adjustment you have pictured that can switch it from carpet to bare floor.  It is called an ALL FLOOR model.  Unfortunately!!!!  What a pain!  I discovered after posting that this is the indicator of clutch or clutchless.  Oh well.

Get this:  It is under warranty for 5 years --- But I have NO SERVICE centers near me to take it.  They can't even pull up
one on their system within any range of my zipcode.  Therefore the warranty is pointless, right - unless I mail it to them and be out
of a vacuum for weeks.  However, at least the representative was kind, gave a part number and let me know he thought
I was probably savvy enough to do the job!  However, he offered no schematic or instruction by which to do it!  Also, the CS said
only ONE belt- the clutch belt attached to beater bar, but, clearly, he is wrong!  The clutch in all clutch models has two belts on the clutch.  Perhaps he just didn't understand my question!  Anway...

I found this last night:   and

I didn't know how on earth to take the clutch apart without destroying it!

Thanks for your help.  I will let you know when my carpets look nice again!  teehee   ;)

The easiest solution is to replace the clutch itself. A snapped clutch belt can be indicative of another problem with the clutch. They don't usually snap for nothing. In fact, they very seldom snap.

The DC07 workshop manual featured on our US facing Dyson spares page (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DysonSparePartsUSA.html) will tell you how to do that and more. The DC07 shares many mechanicals with the DC14 - clutch and lower body mainly, so that side of it will be applicable to you. You will also need a T15 Torx screwdriver with a four inch reach to do it.

If you do want to go ahead and change a clutch belt, it depends which one it is - one is far easier to change than the other. The one that feeds the beater bar is much harder to change than the other one, and frankly, I wouldn't recommend it unless you are very practically inclined.

Swapping out the clutch would be the easier way to go. They are typically about $30 assuming US prices run similar with UK prices. If you struggle, we can send a clutch, screwdriver and whatever you need from the UK.
