Title: Interesting DC04 Wand repair!
Post by: beko1987 on February 03, 2015, 08:02:03 pm
A lady at work asked me if I wanted her old Dyson, as she was going to buy a new one, although she couldnt really afford it. I said that I would refurb it for less than my usual price if she spread the word about to her friends, and because she's a bit of a ledge who helsp me out alot at work!

Grabbed it out of her car at lunchtime and immediatly noticed the problem. Had a closer look when I got home

3 things immediatly wrong, can you tell?

it obviously worked to a point too

Found a faded-to-the-same-level cyclone middle from the pile'o'scrap in the loft, and tore it down. Whilst washing it, I noticed something else!

Proper job! Is secure though, and pretty well done! She needs tools so I;ll find a good 07 crevice tool and pop it in!

Sadly there's a big crack further up which doesnt move at all, but I'll tell her to not drop it too many times, will drip some glue into it to help too

Seems someones been here before

Will ask her how long she's had it and if those repairs were done under her ownership

Either way, I've never seen a wand repaired like that before!

:))  Instant bird nest, could be a new side line!

That wand is fantastic   You will need a clip for the tool holder.

OMG cool wand repair that!
I want to like the DC04 wand but I dont, the only advantage is the aluminium,  I prefer the DC07 and 14 wands because they dont have big fat annoying wand caps and have decent or no tool holders :)
Dc04 wand cable winder turns only to a certain limit, has a fat wand which I seen so many have no springs in them, Dyson had to make a springless version
Flimsy things though sadly

What bugs me with all wheeled Dyson uprights is the bottom of where the motor sits, that maaaaasive scratch thing which has loads of deep small scratches as the user vacuums the car or when it's been on a rough surface like outside

same here,  it can ruin a machine.  Tbh I'm glad this is a refurb as I'd have broken it for spares if it just came my way,  it is a bit shabby!

An 07 tool holder welded in and the bin insert upside down.

IIRC it was a DC07 crevice tool holder cut out and glued onto a DC04 wand where the fins had snapped off? lol

I forgot to find the original and upload it, sorry!

It was just  DC07 crevice tool holder shopped out of a wand and glued over the back of where the 04 crevice tool holder was though. Must have been a bit over-zealous in my google photo's cleanup!
