Title: How to replace clutched brushroll belt

Currently overhauling a DC07 Animal as a moving in present for a friend. I've bought some new clutch to brushroll belts in readiness.

I also received my unofficial DC07 service manual, and it states to replace the clutch assembly as a whole. Any hints and tips to replace the belts on a clutch? I've only ever played with 1 clutch and it didn't go too well, so keen not to mess this one up as well!

(Haven't got the clutch out yet, my longer t15 driver I ordered from your good selves arrived today, so that's tonight's job!)

Tis the same clutch. ;)

Did you use a belt tool or wing it with a bunch of screwdrivers?

I realised that about the clutch, dc14 is the same too isn't it? I have 2 clutches where the plastic case is broken, but the parts are good so an rebuild them now rather than replace! If they sound a bit rattly when not in use (clutch off, slight metallic tinging, not a dead clutch roar) what could that be indicative of? Have one that does this, works fine though and internally I can see nothing wrong.

We find it easier to use those for clutch knobs, yes.

Just internal wear and tear really. They dont last forever you know. ;D

Will live with it for now then, and tell whoever I give it to that if it does go ping let me know and I'll swap a good one in! I did put a small drop of oil on the 3 ball bearings to help them along, maybe they are 'too' loose now...
