Hi all, my friends DC07 isn't working. I said I'd have a look. The brush bar doesn't spin, so I removed the clutch cover and both belts are intact! Is it because they could be loose and it needs a new clutch anyway, or could it be something else?

Does the white wheel look OK or is it melted?

New clutch should fix that.
Possibly but unlikely to be the brushbar itself

Seen many DC04's on ebay dead cheap with that, sent them a message, have you tried turning that (Whatever colour machine) dial and they are always like Thankyou! that fixed it, ill update the listing etc.

Thanks everyone, yes I had the selector knob on, but because I had it upside down on the table it was in the upright position. I realised after, tilted it and laid it on its side on the floor and the brush bar is spinning fine. Silly me, but thanks again! Great forum this everyone always very helpful ;)

Might be worth sticking a new clutch in anyways if its over 10 years old.
My dc04 had a clutch change before I bought the machine, and it was fitted with one from 2011, so its pretty new.
I always change the clutch after 12 years anyways, then salvage the fan belt, pully and clutch pad if they are any good

Yes probably a good idea! Don't think it's had a hard life though, one of the cleanest cyclones I've taken apart. I love taking them all apart and cleaning them!!! The dirtier the better! But this one didn't take long at all!
