Title: Dyson DC16 potential battery hack!
Post by: Parwaz7862 on February 24, 2016, 08:30:32 pm
DC16's have a common problem of killing batteries and not holding the charge anymore for very long, so I Googled remedies on how to fix rechargeable batteries, but came across this wonderfully motivating video! Maybe it will work for Dyson DC16 batteries?

Haha I've done this to a few in the past, just watch out because they really can explode and they hurt when they do if you're near them! I had a LiPo make a hole in my windscreen once haha.

I went through these thoughts with the Roomba and AccuNova battery, and decided that the cost of the new cells, plus the time taken to fit them was really not worth it over a new cheap battery!

job jobbed!

indeed, having seen a Li - Ion battery go on the tube I wouldn't want to risk it  :boggleeye:

Anyone one know how many cells there is in one of them packs? as most li on battery cells have 3.7-4.2v per cell, there could be the same as 18650 cells or just fit high discharge 5s-6s lipo then you will see sucking power  8)

Imagine that, you would have to fit something to shut it off when the voltage gets to a point to avoid damaging the LiPo, and get a new balance charger but it'd be awesome lol.

Reasonable charger for lipo form hobbyking at £25-£35 and lipo low voltage for £2.04

http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__45911__HobbyKing_8482_Lipoly_Low_Voltage_Alarm_2s_6s_UK_Warehouse_.html?strSearch=lipo%20low

If I can get my hands on cheap handheld version of dyson I will fit lipo to it and see how it works.

for the price of a new battery and a charger. you're far better getting a brand new one. I wouldn't buy any of the chepo batterys and chargers on ebay. I've seen what they do. if I remember right someone's house got burnt down becuase of a cheapo battery on a hand held

Maybe the ebay battery is better than the genuine? Runtime seems longer I think from what I heard

Oh and I want one, cba with the cable, it's either too long and I have to wind it back again and its annoying cos its too long so I put it in the other room so it's outta the way
