Title: DC17 motor
Post by: GeorgeJ on April 14, 2017, 02:22:48 pm
Hi all,

Found a DC17 with a dead motor (per the user).  They have already disassembled it (oh boy) and tested (?) the motor to confirm it's dead.

So, assuming they're absolutely right, which vac motors are interchangable with it?  It seems they go for $70 online and I can't see spending that much on a hunch.  I might just clean it up and get it ready for when I find a donor....  unless, of course, one of you collectors want it.

Hi George.

I could be interested depending how much it would cost to ship to the UK mainland.

I have an incomplete DC17 with a motor but no way of knowing if it works.

I require a few parts.

Please let me know

Many thanks

PS any picture please?? as many as you like....

The item I'm looking at is here:
https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/for/6086011915.html

I could get it for about $20USD, however I did some quick shipping calcs and it would cost ~$500 to ship!   :D :o :o :o :o :boggleeye:

edit: sorry, I don't know how to convert USD to crowns or gold coins or cups of tea or whatever it is you people use for currency.

Search google - (However much) USD to UK pounds and it will give you the conversion

BTW  - 1 USD = 0.80 UK Pound

Send it to me ;D  I'm dying for one

Chop off a Dc07/14/33 motor spindle and fit it to the DC17? They look similar besides the spindle

Also, how much harder is it to strip down than a Dc07?

I would sell 99% of my many vacuums in my collection for a DC17.

I would do many things for a DC17.

If anyone is willing to get me a DC17, holla at me ;D

I CANT STRESS ENOUGH

So what you're saying is: don't spend the $20 for the used 17 with the blown motor because they're trash and suck and should die in a fire?

So why not use a dc08/19 motor so no spindle chopping.  :grinn:
