ok i have looked at many youtube videos...i have reset my brush bar on my dc41 animal- that didn't work ... so i bought a whole new head- that didn't work , then changed out the switch for the brush bar and the brush bar is still not working....
what else can be wrong? My theory is :there is a short in the housing attached into the vacuum where the 2 metal prongs on the brush head meet the vac. it's a bad connection
Before i bought the new cleaner head the old one would work intermittently- i need some direction - think it's electrical. I'm a mom trying to fix my expensive vac before my husband finds out.
thanks for any help

Most likely the wiring loom.
Very very common problem and i've spoke alot about recently. Wires snap and the brush no longer works.

probably yoke cable as above

ok so how much is involved with changing it? i'm fairly mechanically inclined but i don't wanna ruin my vacuum. can you point me to a video or instructions that can help me determine if i wanna take this on myself before i order the parts?
