I have just serviced my DC 07 Animal, replacing the motor, clutch, lower suction pipe and filters.
When assembled there is a loud, quite low pitched resonance which occurs all the time the vacuum bin is attached
If the bin is removed then the motor is as sweet as anything. The cleaner works fine, with much more power than before. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thank you

The only things I can think of is sometimes there are 2 neoprene semi-circular seals on the underside of the HEPA filter. I NEVER bother fitting these as out of the literally hundreds of DC07's I've reconditioned, I've only ever had to fit these seals due to vibration/resonance ONCE.
It cold be a broken post motor filter cover or cracked bin flap - now I'm guessing!

Did you use any glue or silicon on the motor seal? If not, maybe its motor howl?

My DC14 did this, it was the Post motor filter seal so I had to remove that. Need to get a new HEPA with seals again due to my hayfever kicking in in this heatwave ugh.
Check all the cyclone seals to see if it's that. Also when the motor was replaced, was it forced into the motor housing or was the bottom motor seal lubricated so that it could nicely fit inside? I once forced my Dc07 motor in, this made the pre motor filter case not fit in and the seals could have a gap

Was the underside of the top handle absolutley fileld with shite? Is it shiney clean now? I've noticed a louder noise on refurbished machines as the airflow can whip around as it's supposed to, which makes a louder noise. The fact that you say this only happens with the cyclone on denotes that only the cyclone can be the cause.
Do you have the rubber seal present on the side of the cyclone where it meets the chassis of the machine?
Do you have the rubber seal present that sits right at the bottom, sealing itself up to the bin flap?
Do you have the rubber seal present that sits around the cyclone top when you push it into the machine? Has it rolled itself out of its groove? A smear of oil on the seal (or saliva if it's clean inough and you dont care) helps it stay seated as it slips down.
With the cyclone off, if you block the suction from the chassis with your hand, does the noise occur? You should hear the motor pitch change, then the release valve in the sponge filter housing will open allowing air to escape.

I started reading this and thought 'motor howl': but surely if so then removing the cyclone would not stop the noise? So I'd suspect a poor cyclone to chassis seal instead, as beko sugests?

I was going to say it sounds like a seal, the one on the cyclone handle can sometimes move when you refit it.

The air will only pass the fan case seal and howl under strain surely? Like when the bin is on.
