Title: DC04 DE STIJL
Post by: The Doodster on June 07, 2015, 08:00:00 pm
Hi All,
          Just bought this little lot for £15.00 locally down in deepest darkest Cornwall. In amongst them was a DC04 De Stijl. It's in a bit of a state with busted handle, foot plate and missing its motor. Also the filter in the cyclone has shriveled up and looked like a digestive biscuit  :'(

[attachimg=2]

Anyway, I've stripped it completely, washed and steam cleaned all the parts and raided my parts bin and managed to find the correct handle and foot plate. I need the very elusive stair tool and will have to fit a ydk motor (I have a set of Panasonic rubbers for it which is what I think the motor was originally fitted looking at the motor bucket).

Here's a pic of the filter I removed....the worst I've ever seen !

[attachimg=3]

I don't suppose anyone has a stair tool knocking around in the correct colour ? (long shot I know)

Thanks......Scott

Ohh GIGGIDYGiggidy Goo! look at all those Dysons! ;D
Anyways lol the stair toolsare getting qquite rare now, but I have an idea and that is to get a purple tool and a red tool then swap the swivel necks with each other to make the proper destijl stair tool and you have another aswell lol

Weirdly I can't find any red tools on ebay apart from a brand new brush tool and crevice tool, both of which belong to the destijl models of DC04 and DC01

Have a look at some of the 'bulk' sales on eBay. I've sometimes seen a big pile just advertised as 'Dyson various tools', with the odd red/blue De Stijl tool poking out of a huge heap of mainly grey ones. Usually breakers who don't realise how rare they are. This kind of thing (though sadly no De Stijl ones visible here):

I guess you could cut the crevice tooland although it may be rough, get like a £5 iron from somewhere and set it on a medium setting with no steam. Iron the end of the crevice tool so that it doesn't look like it's been cut. I would try this with a grey one first just incase :]

Doubtful, I had to buy a job lot myself last time to get one. I have brush tools and a red crevice. Might be able to muster up a purple stair tool. Or a purple stair and a red brush you may be able to hybrid?

Well, rushed in from work, straight in the workshop and assembled the De Stijl  ;D

Just waiting for the tools now to finish it off but I'm quite pleased with the results. Just a little disappointed with the sticker damage on the front of the canister but considering the handle and foot plate was smashed with the motor missing, it's turned out rather well I think.

Haha just read this old message, I got a De Stijl now, need a red wand now. I can only find one with a hose, which i dont need buts its like 23 poundings, which considering ive seen a couple knocking around for a tenner is a little high, especially since I didn't need the hose this is ebay im talking about BTW
